Next Week in Sunday School

Last week, we considered how fragile our faith can sometimes become. We saw Abram make a dreadful mistake by listening to his wife’s poor counsel to have a child with Hagar. God proved to Abram that He not only saw their lack of faith, but that God was willing to make good on His promise despite their own sinful behavior. Abram had a very close and special relationship with God. He knew God could be trusted. And yet, Abram tried to convince God that Ishmael was enough to satisfy God’s promised plans. Abram was losing patience, and his focus and faith were becoming blurred. This reminds us of a similar instance when Peter was scolded by Jesus in Matthew 16: 13-24.

Next Sunday, we continue our study of faith and obedience as we follow Abraham back to Sodom and Gomorrah for one final visit, (Genesis 18:16 – 19:1-29).

Past Events

We’re going camping! FUGE Camp is just around the corner, and to help our students get there, we’ve hosted 3 fundraisers. We’ve been blessed to raise more than $3,900.00! Praise God for so many generous givers at SMBC, and in our community!

SMBC Summer Camp: M-Fuge Ridgecrest, N.C. July 9-July 13

FUGE Camp is back in 2021! Our students will be traveling to Ridgecrest N.C. where they will worship God by serving the people of that community, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This is an all M-Fuge camp, which means that evangelical missions will be our primary focus, along with rich fellowship and study of God’s Word.

We depart on Friday, July 9, and return on Tuesday, July 13. The cost is $334 per person. Student fundraising dollars have been held over from 2019. If your student worked any of our fundraising events at that time, they will be able to apply unused funds to this camp. Church sponsorships are also available if needed. Please contact Greg Dowell at youth.ministry@smithmemorial.org to inquire.

Click the link below to access the sign-up genius for the July camp. Please complete a sign-up for each student that will be joining from your family.

Thank you!

Youth Bible Study Scope and Sequence

The Student Ministry’s sole purpose at SMBC is to make the triune God known. We believe that each of our young people have an innate desire to know their place and value in the world, and that our role in their lives is to point them to Christ who desires to be the center and source of their life’s purpose. Foundational to this work is a devotion to God’s Word as the final authority of our faith in Christ. Everything we do to engage our students is in one way, shape, or form, designed around God’s timeless word.

Our students, volunteers, and leaders are growing in the Lord together through purposeful exploration of God’s Word, meaningful discussion & fellowship, and prayer sustained by faith & knowledge of the One who saves! We invite your students to join us as we grow and learn what it means to live a life set apart while winning the lost for Christ!
